When to use this tool

Xero and QuickBooks apply exchange rates one transaction at a time, and their community forums have long-running requests for a bulk historical-rate update. Until that exists, prepare the rates outside and import them.

Workflow

  1. Export the foreign-currency transactions with their dates
  2. Paste them into the batch tool
  3. Download the CSV with dated rates
  4. Import or adjust the rates in Xero / QuickBooks and keep the CSV as backup

FAQ

Does Xero or QuickBooks let me bulk-update historical exchange rates?

Not as a bulk action at the time of writing; both communities have open requests for it. Rates are set per transaction, so preparing a dated-rate list outside the software is the usual workaround.

Which rate does FXpeek use?

ECB-based daily reference rates for the invoice or transaction date (the last business day when the date falls on a weekend or holiday). It is reference data, not your bank's rate; confirm the basis your accountant requires.
